1500 Post contest results

Thanks to all who entered and commented on the set, I wound up with 31 total entries.  I decided to give 2 prizes away, the winners of those you will see in the video.   I will be contacting them both this evening.

One card rule:

I know that there are a couple of Vlad Guerrero collectors out there.  My question to you, or anyone else out there is this "if your player appears on one of these rediscover Topps stamped cards, do you consider it a unique card in your collection?"  Why or why not?

Thanks for reading, Robert

  1. I put them with the year they are stamped, so the "Rediscover" ones are at the end of the player's section (they're sorted chronologically). I've got several, but unless someone comes out with a comprehensive index of them all at some point, I will mainly try to get at least one of each player I collect, not every one that's out there.

  3. I have two "rediscover Topps" Jays.. a 1986 Manny Lee and a 1977 Dave Hilton.

I think of them as a hybrid, if that makes sense.. They are the old card, but with the new stamp. More of an annoyance than anything else..

  4. Generally I ignore them. I'm not chasing them for Charlie Hough, Bobby Cox, and so on. It's after-market, basically. I do count them in my type collection (Rediscover Topps will be one entry for this year's set).

There is one notable exception - Buck Farmer, who I'll buy pretty much any card of. I just picked up a 2017 Bowman buyback of his 2015 RC.

  5. I'm not chasing them, but gladly accept them from others. I do have a Pineda that I consider a "unique" issue.

  6. Yes, I want them. The guys I have collected that are no longer playing weren't stars. Guys like Russ Davis, Darrell Whitmore and Chris Enochs will never have more cards. This is a way to add to the collections.
