At least one Blue Jay has a chance to make some history this year

Doing a little research for a project I'm working on this evening brought me to this realization.

Omar Vizquel, who signed with the Blue Jays in the off season, needs to appear in 92 games to become just the 9th person in MLB history to play in 3000 games.

That is one incredible achievement if you think about it.

If you're looking to stump your friends with a little trivia, the players who hit 3000 games in the fewest amount of seasons?   Both of them were Orioles (Murray and Ripken both did it in just 21 years)

Oh, and the only player to play 3000 games and not be in the HOF....well, let's just say he's banned for life.

Thanks for reading, Robert

  1. Big whoop. Last year, I attended 3 or 4 actual games. Ok, that is a big deal. Congrats to Omar, who had a very brief stay with my Rangers.

  2. If not for the Topps Heritage logo, I would have thought this card to be Omar's original rookie card from '54 Topps!
