Week 2 comes to a close: another trade completed (thus a little further in the hole)

It is Friday night, and week 2 of the $30/week "experiment" comes to a close.  I completed a trade today with Ryan at "O" no, not another Orioles blog, which will put a big dent into my Topps needs for the past 2 years.  This cost me $1.71 in postage, thus taking me to $28.40 in the red.

So, with $1.60 in the budget, I'll be focusing on trades this week to minimize the damage and try and get myself into better shape for week 4.

Week 2: Tuesday...BUDGET BLOWN!!

Good morning all, I'm posting in the morning because our internet was out last night.  As you have noticed by the title, I've already blown my budget, but it is for something that I feel is worth it.  I started the week with $38.30 to spend, and bought an A&G blaster at Wal-Mart, leaving me with $18.31.  Well, I have committed this morning to a $45 Topps Lineage case break over at Nachos Grande, leaving me at -$26.69, or almost one week in the hole.

I do feel though that this is a good thing, hopefully I will get lucky and pull some good cards out of the 2 box rip, plus as I mention in my header I'm still getting back into the hobby on a regular basis, and building relationships with other bloggers is something that is definitely on my to do list.

More on this later tonight, and in the days to come as I found out how I did.

thanks,

Week 2, Sunday, a little busier

Started the day with $38.30, spent $19.99 on an A&G blaster box at Wal-Mart (see post below), which leaves me with $18.31 left to spend for the week.  I'm currently working on 3 trades at the bench, hoping to knock down some of my want list (I added a list for Allen & Ginter today, please check it out).

Also, I spent a good portion of my Sunday going through several boxes of cards, and it struck me that I have a lot of work to do to get them organized and sorted out.  LOL, wish me luck.

I am also going to start posting random items about my favorite teams (Blue Jays, Leafs, Steelers) and include some card photos to showcase what I have in my collection.  I am also going to get my hockey want list started, so keep an eye out over the next little while as well.

Thanks,

Week 2: Sunday, blaster box of A&G provides more good pulls.

Hello all, it is Sunday of week 2 and my wife and I wound up going out to Wal Mart this morning.  Naturally, aisle 21 was where I was headed when we had found all the necessities we needed for this trip.  Like I mentioned before, I am going to shy away from football this year, so A&G was the way to go.  Usually, the store is picked pretty clean by the weekend, however I arrived there today and had a choice of 10 different blaster boxes of A&G.  So, I asked my wife to pick a number between 1 and 10..she chose lucky #7, and I will say it was a pretty good choice.  Here are some of the pulls:

A black bordered Ryan Braun mini, and 2 Allen & Ginter back minis as well (Todd Helton and Jered Weaver).

I also pulled a code breaker card of Jordan Zimmerman (#152), and a Hometown Heroes card of a Blue Jay (my team), Brandon Morrow.  Finally, this was the big pull for me...

Auto of Andres Torres from the SF Giants.   I will say I've had pretty good luck with the blaster  boxes so far, I've hit for 2 relics and 2 autos total, along with 3 black bordered minis and 7 A&G back minis as well.  If anyone out there is looking to trade for any of these cards, just drop me a line at rmitchell6700ATyahooDOTcom.

Week 2 of the $30 a week experiment

Yes, it is Saturday, and week 2 has started.  I start this week with $38.30 available to spend, and right now have nothing in the works.  I'll start looking around some sites this weekend to see if I can get some trades happening, and who knows.  But for right now, no pack buying is in sight, and there may not be any for the foreseeable future until I can get to a card store (Nearest one to me is 15 miles away).

Maybe I'll use some time this weekend to start getting my collection more organized and get some more unfinished sets together to add to my want lists (my hockey collection is woefully behind in this).

Stay tuned...
