Is has been a couple of years since I've posted. This post is going to be therapy for me.
I had a stroke last summer. It truly fucked me up on my left side.
I am working on a "2026 get well" tour. This week I go to see a sleep doctor, and get a CPAP machine. Needed to be done! The sleep study I had done last month certainly opened my eyes. When I say "sleep study" I say it jokingly because of how it is done, I didn't get great sleep that day. But I did learn a lot.
After that I will work on my left eye. Get the cataract removed, starting the process. Try and see again.
Maybe I will start writing a bit more. It helps me. When they talk about mental well being, this works a bit. I get to talk to everyone.
I hope you are all doing well out there/ I really do. I went through a month of physical and occupational therapy., walked with a walker and a cane and slowly built some strength in my left leg.
Apparently, trying to load a photo of a card, I learned Blogger has changed. It is not letting me do it. I will eventually figure if out. I look forward to trying to take some time and read some of my favorite blogs. If you want send me a link.
I've got the rest of 2026 to try and work on myself. Lost 50 lbs so far, have another 35 to get to my goad of less than 200!!
So, if you were wondering what happened to me, that is a part of the story. Sene me an email if you wish. Drop me a line. Say, hi! I'm still here :)
Robert, I apologize for not checking in with you after noticing you hadn't posted in a long time. Strokes are scary and I hope all that hard work you're putting in gets you to a place where you can do things comfortably. I know I'm far from the only person who wishes you well and would love to see you back and posting when you're up to it, and I might just have some cards to send your way too. May you get well in 2026!
ReplyDeleteNO need to apologize. Have some fun with me as I progress further.
DeleteMost important thing is to have fun!!!
Sorry to hear about your health challenges. Best of luck getting better! Hoping to see more posts from you this year.
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, Robert, I was just thinking about you earlier today, I even checked out your blog and saw it had been 2 years. And then you leave a comment on my post and that freaked me out a little!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're working on yourself. Like you said, it needs to be done. I'm always an email away if you want to chit-chat.
Glad to hear you are going in the right direction, for me, that is most of the battle, just getting started. Good luck and keep moving!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that sounds like a scary ordeal. I'm glad you are past it and moving toward rehabilitation and better health!
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see a surprise blog post. Though the news of your stroke was hard to read, I'm glad that you're targeting 2026 and headed in the right direction. My girlfriend has been bugging me to reach out to my doctor to see if I have sleep apnea and need a CPAP. Maybe this is the year.
ReplyDeleteI went to the sleep doctor today and found I that I stopped breathing 61 times in 1 hour during my sleep study. I wholly recommend the process.
DeleteI hope you recover well. I know all about the sleep study. Had to get a new CPAP. Wires all over and couldn't really sleep.
ReplyDeleteI've been up and down both physically and mentally. I have been writing more this year on my blog.
Sorry to hear of the health challenges, but hope recovery goes well!
ReplyDeleteRobert, wishing you all the best. I hope the venture back into card blogging helps bring back some normalcy for you.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you AJ, hope all is well with you and the family.
DeleteYou were always one of the nicer bloggers so it's sad to hear something like this had to happen to you. As awful as its probably been, it sounds like with the severity of your particular stroke that you're lucky to be alive. I certainly wish you all the best in your continued recovery, and hopefully with the steps you've been taking to improve your health (especially the weight loss), you'll be able to avoid any future reoccurrences.
ReplyDeleteStrokes are the silent killer for sure!! I never expected it to happen, and do not regret that it did. It was my wake-up call for sure
DeletePraying for your healing journey and look forward to hearing about it!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Robert! I wish the best in your recovery process.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I haven't come across your blog before. Let me introduce myself; I am Ginko-5, and have been card-blogging for just over two years now. I'm glad a found a new blog to follow, even if I'm a bit late to the party. I'm looking forward to reading the blog moving forward! I'm sorry to hear about the health issues, and hope you get well as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteNever too late to the party, come in and enjoy yourself. Excuse the randomness of my insanity. It is what I am now.
DeleteGlad to hear from you again! Here's hoping the 2026 Get Well Tour is a major success!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, it's good to know that you're doing OK. Hope the recovery continues and that we see more posts.
