1632: A few additions from COMC

A few weeks back I added $75 in credit to my COMC account, in two pieces.  $25 of it wound up purchasing the remainder of the 2011 Heritage set I showed off the other day, and the other $50 went towards some contest prizes and a few things for me.  I still have just under $14 in my COMC account, so I didn't go too crazy...

My older hockey want lists are kind of like the kid that gets picked last for sports.  They're out there, but nobody (including myself) thinks to take a look at them until the end.  I grabbed a couple of 83-84 OPC highlight cards (dig the Cooperall pants on Blaine Stoughton) to make that want list a tiny bit smaller.  Still a couple hundred or so cards to go there.

As with any other shopping trip to COMC, Sakic and Thome cards came home.  I didn't pick up a whole lot of them, but knocking off a few more cards from those want lists is always a good thing.

I tend to go in spurts with my purchases.  One day I bought the PC cards, another day I bought 8 more cards for the SNI Hockey set.

The main goal for purchasing the cards that I did was to knock off the final 7 teams that needed a serial #'d card below 100.  All but the Dino Ciccarelli card completed that task.  So now the focus is on finding the other 1000 serial #'s (approximately) in order to round out the set.

Going to subtract the whole $75 now because it's a sunk cost.  $1707-$75=$1632.

At this pace, I will spend $1279 by the end of the year, so I'm still well ahead of my $2000 target.

thanks for reading, Robert

  1. Great stuff all around. I've started picking up SN hockey cards on COMC for my own ever growing collection. What is up with that Paramount Sakic? Usually it's the background that gets messed with, not the player's photo.

    1. I just noticed the washed out Avs logo after you mentioned the photo. I'm not sure why they did that, at first I thought licensing but then there's the Avs logo at the bottom of the card, so I don't know what's up...

    1. I love it also, but I was hoping that the Electric Diamond cards were a little more....electric.

I still have a ton of Thome inserts to add to the PC, so I was glad to get that one on the cheap.
